Papilio cypraeofila (Butler, 1868)

Sapaba, Nigeria; April 1946

Not uncommon in lowland forest of Central and western Tropical Africa (Ghana, Togo, Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Benin and east to Nigeria). P zenobius is a synonym. A member of the "zenobia complex" which is greatly in need of revision. Note the characteristic lemon yellow color to the wing bands which help to distinguish it from the very similar Papilio fernandus praecola  Papilio filaprae musulanus and Papilio mechowianus.
