Graphium meeki (Rothschild and Jordan, 1901)

Boi, Bougainville Feb 1978 ssp inexpectata  750 meters  male

Very rare and local, meeki is an insect of montane rain forests, known from Choisul and Santa Isabel in the Solomon islands, and more recently Bougainville Island, off the East coast of New Guinea. Unlike its relative agamemnon, it is not happy around civilization and spends much of its day in the forest canopy. Like many "rare and local" species, it may be found in good numbers at the right place and time. Perhaps one of the rarest Graphium, little is known of its habits and susceptibility to deforestation which are serious problems in the Solomons and Bougainville.
