   Very local and generally considered rare, vandepolli is known from two locations: Western Java as the nominate race (shown above), and Sumatra as ssp honrathiana. Both populations are threatened by deforestation, but the Javan form is particularly at risk on this densely populated and rapidly growing island. It is a montane species, flying at altitudes between 1500 amd 1900 meters, and has been reported despite its rarity to be locally quite common in the right place and the right time.
