Endemic to Sri Lanka (Ceylon),  darsius is under considerable threats due to human overpopulation and environmental destruction. Flies in thinly wooded forests, primarily on the South of the island. Prefers medium altitudes; Local populations may still be abundant from May through July in parts of the island.
