Papilio thersites (Fabricus, 1775)

NE of Kingston, Jamaica July 1970 male recto Duncans, Jamaica; 7/81 male verso
Strawberry Hill, Jamaica October 1977

Endemic to Jamaica where it is reported to be locally common; despite this, it is poorly represented in most collections. Strong sexual dimorphism as in P astyalus with females possibly mimicing Battus polydamas. Prefers coastal hills in dryer environments, males frequenting flowers during the heat of day. Closely related to P androgeus.
