    Very wide range through the Amazon basin but generally scarce. Flies in deep forest. The nominate form pictured (top) is from the Western Amazon. Subspecies ygdrassilla (formerly P.  triopaz) occurs in the eastern portions of its range. A third ssp., mithras, is known from Guyana.
