Papilio bairdi (Edwards, 1869)

   Generally common, known from the midwestern USA east of the Rockies to the Dakotas, south to S California and New Mexico. Porbably only a subspecies of P. machaon.  Form bairdi (which lacks the extensive yellow)  is more frequent in the southern parts of its range - both forms can arise from the same clutch of eggs in differing proportions.
