Knownfrom Malaysia, western Indonesia and Palawan, this species is decidedly less common in general than its sisters doson and euryplus, but is found in the same habitats (lowland forests / paths / rivers). Seasonal in occurance (mst common March to May) G chiron has been considered a ssp. of bathycles in the past, but their ranges apparently overlap in the Malay peninsula. Subspecies include:
